The Federal Government of Nigeria has Filed a Complaint Against Big Brother Naija.
The Director-General of National Council for Arts and Culture, Segun Runsewe while playing host to the president of the National Council of Women Societies, Dr Gloria Shoda and her team said they have lodged a complaint against Big Brother Naija to the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
According to him, what is going on at the Big Brother Naija house is terrible especially with the love affairs scenes. He went to say he had taken up the issue with the National Broadcasting Commission.
Mr Segun Runsewe said “We are going to represent that bill You can’t fight a battle without a legal framework; we are definitely going to be conscious of that. I will take up the issue of Big Brother Naija; I have spoken with officials of the National Broadcasting Commission because what is going on now is terrible. Having love affairs on live TV is not part of our own culture at all.
“Let me use this forum to tell Nigerians that a new Big Brother Naija is on its way coming and we are working with Startimes. We are doing BBN that will reflect the true Nigerian culture. We are already working on it, all that will be eaten there will be Nigerian food, the dresses will be Nigerian dresses”
The federal government’s decision to file a complaint to the NBC over BBNaija is inline with the UK based newspaper’s article that was released about a week ago. It had claimed that Khafi and Gedoni were having sex in the Big Brother Naija house.
According to a report by The Sun Newspaper, Khafi’s participation in the BBNaija was not approved by the force. Also, Khafi’s romance with Gedoni threw her into facing an investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
Meanwhile, the explicit contents seen in BBNaija show is its own law that protects it, Viewers under the age of 18 are advised not to view it due to the adult content, and other sexual displays are not shown publicly but only on BBNaija premuim platform.
