Iran government has admitted that its military made an “unforgivable mistake” in unintentionally shooting down a Ukrainian flight, which killed all 176 people onboard.
Information Drillers reports that a thread of tweets by the Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, said that armed forces’ internal investigation has concluded that missiles regrettably fired due to human error caused the horrific crash of the Ukrainian plane and death of 176 innocent people.
The president said investigations has been carried out to bring to book those who made such unforgivable mistake.

Describing the sad incident, the foreign affairs minister Javad Zarif, said that preliminary conclusions of internal investigation by Armed Forces indicated human error at time of crisis caused by US adventurism led to disaster.

He said: “A sad day. Preliminary conclusions of internal investigation by Armed Forces: Human error at time of crisis caused by US adventurism led to disaster. Our profound regrets, apologies and condolences to our people, to the families of all victims, and to other affected nations.”

Commenting on the incident, the Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, responded on the morning of Saturday, January 11, that Iran must make an official apology and agree to full investigation and compensation, as well as co-operating with Ukraine’s own investigators.
He said: “Our 45 professionals should have full access and co-operation to establish justice. The Islamic Republic of Iran deeply regrets this disastrous mistake. My thoughts and prayers go to all the mourning families. I offer my sincerest condolences.”
In a statement posted on social media, Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani wrote that the country “deeply regrets this disastrous mistake.”

The head of Iran’s civil aviation authority, Ali Abedzadeh had earlier said it was impossible for the Plane to hit by a missile.
What is obvious for us, and what we can say with certainty, is that no missile hit the plane,” Abedzadeh said.
It could be recalled that on January 8, Iran mistakenly shot down Ukrainian flight near Tehran with 176 people on board.
