The publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has invited singer Burna Boy to join him in his October 1 rally, which is the 60th anniversary of Nigeria (Nigeria’s Independence Day) via his Twitter account.
Sowore noted in the post that Burna Boy is frequently compared to Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the late legendary afro-beat singer.
He also said that Burna Boy is known as a revolutionary artist by international media, but he has not performed a revolutionary act like Fela, who is compared to him.
Sowore added that he wondered why Burna Boy has never led a protest in Nigeria and used the opportunity to invite the Wonderful music artist to join him in his protest.
He Wrote; “Hello @burnaboy, everywhere I turn people describe you as a revolutionary musician, the foreign media even celebrate you, compare you to Fela Kuti, but I am yet to see you lead anyone to a police station carrying a coffin for head of state! Join #Oct1stProtest #RevolutionNow.”
Sowore is the Presidential candidate of African Action Congress in the 2019 general elections. He is also the convener of “Revolution Now”.
