This article discloses in details why NIMC App was removed from play store – The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has removed their mobile application from Play store and Apple store.
This was confirmed by the spokeperson of NIMC, Kayode Adegoke who told Information Drillers that, the was removed because it is not fully ready use.
Information Drillers had earlier published the removal of the NIMC App after checking and confirming that NIMC app has been removed.
Few weeks ago, Nigerian had earlier downloaded the NIMC Mobile App from Play Store and Apple Store after information of the availability of the app was posted on NIMC official twitter handle.
The new NIMC app was functional and many Nigerian including a Special Adviser to President Buhari also announced that he has downloaded the app, although he has deleted the tweet.
Another Nigerian also took to his twitter handle that his has also downloaded the app and printed his NIMC card successfully.
Moreover, after some Nigeria had expressed their joy and satisfaction for such App to be available, some Nigerians who also tried out the app also complained that the app is malfunctioning, printing out wrong information like, wrong names and wrong pictures for them.
Why NIMC App Was Removed From Play Store and Apple Store
During our interaction session with the NIMC spokesman, Kayode Adegoke, he told Information Drillers that the NIMC app was removed from play store and apple store because the app was only uploaded on the online store for Nigerians and download it, test it and confirm the error for them to rectify for proper use.
Adegoke also said that the confusion is from the announcement made by the Minister of Interior about the availability of the NIMC app.
What the Minister of Interior Announced About NIMC App
Nigeria Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, had on August 13, 2020 announced that the Federal Government has begin the process of obtaining the data of all Nigerians with the use of National Identification Number (NIN).

This information was made known after the meeting of the Presidential Committee reports on the “Committee on Citizen Data Management and Harmonization to President Muhammadu Buhari”.
The committee will by the use of NIN collect all Nigerians data and store in one place. this was one of the reasons US placed a visa restriction on Nigerians.
